Is it bad not to play any sports in High School?

I played football my freshmen year but as a sophomore I dont want to play any sports and till I graduate I dont want to. Is it bad If I just join clubs year long, get a job year long and some volunteer service, and do my hobbies like snowboarding or playing the guitar. I dont like sports, the kids on my teams are assholes and I just get shit on me all day which I dont care its just annoying, I'm not amazing at sports and truly dont enjoy them. So Do you think its better to get a job join clubs or is it bad that im not doing any sports. Because It depresses me every day when I get made fun of and I dont want to turn out all fucked up and sad when I get older. So should I force myself to do sports and live in sadness or is it fine that im just doing no sports and have a job and do clubs all year long? Will colleges not like it or get mad that I dont play sports?

  1. yes. because they will pick someone with the same grades as you who also played sports. or was invloed in clubs.
  2. the problem here is your a nerd.....sorry
  3. If your doing what you enjoy at the time that's all that matters. If you don't like sports right now (or the people in the teams) then don't do it. Do something for fitness though. Jog, workout, yoga, whatever. Try to stay active but like I said, don't do anything you don't want to. Good luck!
  4. I guess not. Im a freshman and i don't play any, i have pleanty of freidns and other things to do.
  5. it is perfectly fine if you dont do sports half the people in the world dont do sports i to play guitar and played football once i didnt like it those who make fun of you are scared because they probably dont like it either there just trying to make thier dad proud so dont you give it another thought and have a great day
  6. It doesn't matter in the slightest whether you play sports at school. What matters is that a) you can show that you have some interests other than academic, and b) from a health point of view, that you get enough exercise. Snowboarding obviously would qualify there, so long as you also do something active in the summer :) If you're concerned that the sports you do look a bit informal to put on a college application, maybe you could organise something to do with snowboarding, see if you can get a group together? "I didn't like the sports available at my school, so I started a snowboarding club for the students" would, IMO, look even better on an application than just being involved in a ready made sport run by someone else.
  7. The admissions officers in colleges don't care if you are into sports or not. Sure the sports teams need players, but the coaches are recruiting those kids. And very few from any high school will be recruited. So.......if you hate sports, the odds are overwhelming that you wouldn't be one of the ones who was recruited. You would be admitted on your academic record. So, make it the best academic record you possibly can. The job, the clubs and the volunteer work are actually going to get you further than sports would. If you don't enjoy sports, the only thing they have going for them is to keep you physically fit. There are other ways to accomplish that. You sound like a wise young man! Best of luck!!!
