Do you get to play video games and play sports in the Navy?

I was wondering if after boot camp do you have chances to play video games on a regular basis. Can you play MMORPG's like Everquest and WoW?? Do you get do any team sports like football, baseball, basketball, or wrestling??? Do you get to buy like your own stuff like a XBOX 360 and a PC??

  1. Yes of course, during engagements (during the duration of your deployment) you have servicemen who listen to their iPods while commands/orders are being given. But the best part is in the heat of battle you can take out your PSP and play a quick 1v1 with someone if you don't feel like holding your perimeter. Oh by the way WoW is a big go for us at Camps over in Iraq, we sometimes decide to call off patrols/missions to go on 24 hour WoW quest. That's not all, Military is for the gamer spirited!! At Boot camp you have Game week, where you learn about the up and coming titles in the works. So much more, but you got to enlist to find the rest of the ventures of gaming in the US Military!! Right now they have a special for XBOX 360s, 5 year enlistment gets you a XBOX 360 plus 9 games of your choice. Don't miss out! Go to your local Recruiter and ask about the special. Act NOW!
  2. Sailor, To answer your question, being in the Navy (after boot camp) is pretty much like having a job. Except for duty, and periods of heightened alert, you live pretty much like you do now. Whether your shifts are 8 or 12 hours long, you do what you want the rest of the time. Your free time is yours.
  3. Tatertard is right. If you get stationed on shore and live in the barracks, it's almost like living in the dorms in college. I started playing MMOs when I was stationed overseas. On the boat, not so much, but usually somebody brings along a console system and hooks it up in the lounge. So yeah. As for sports, usually there's some sort if intramural kind of thing, my department vs. your department, something like that.
  4. not on a regular basis, especially while in A school and deployed. No room for a game system on ship. you can fit a laptop usually,. but since it cannot be connected to the ship's internet, you cannot use it to play games in that way. as for sports.. plenty of opportunity. It's called PT.
