Should I play sports in college or would it be to overwhelming?
Ok so now in high school I am on the volleyball and golf team, I am considering playing sports in college. I am not sure where I want to go yet. I want to know if people think it would be to overwhelming? I want to be a elementary school teacher so i dont know how missing school would affect with me with my major. I was wondering if college athletes now feel overwhelmed by missing so much school? thanks!

- It all depends on the school. I played basketball in high school and when I went to college, I didn't play because I thought it would be too overwhelming. I would say play. The teachers understand and your freshman year is the easiest. So if you can't handle it, you can always quit. Go for it and good luck in all that you do....
- this is my first year of college, and you should do one of three things along with school 1) work 2) sports or 3) clubs. It's very important in college to get a good education but still stay well rounded so you don't lose touch with the outside world. I wrestle in college, and my coach said to me on the first day of practice, "You're a student first, then you're an athlete." Meaning if your schoolwork is getting hectic, your coach will let you do what you have to do to accomplish your educational goals. My advice, cherish high school while you can, cuz college is a pain!
- You will not miss as much school with golf- volleyball players usually travel ALOT. I played sports for all four years of college and do not regret it at all- I made a lot of great friends and it always pushed me to have my homework done ahead of time because of the other commitments I had.
