What's a disease that you can't play sports after being diagnosed with?

I am writing a fictional story about somebody who can never play the sport they love again after being diagnosed with a certain disease, but I don't know what that disease should be. I need something that starts out mild (because they played in the last game even after having been diagnosed) but then becomes more severe (because they can't play again after this game). Thanks!

2. One disease that is mild at the beginning and severe before treated is SVT, it is a heart disorder that my brother has, and it starts just like your heart racing then it turns into heart pounding at around 200 beats per minute. i hope that helps :)
